What it is:
This tube of goodness in short is a typical eyeshadow primer. A primer is a base that you can put down before your makeup that puts a barrier between the product and your skin. It evens out the lid area and helps the product stay longer and, in the case of eyeshadow primers, it prevents the eyeshadow from creasing. Short and sweet: it preps, brightens, and provides all-day wear. It currently comes in four colors:
Original - disappears completely when applied
Ideal for the purist who wants a straightforward primer
Eden - primer, highlighter, and eye shadow.
Ideal for matte tawny, nude wash of color
Greed- primer, highlighter, and eye shadow.
Ideal for shimmer with a golden tint
Sin- primer, highlighter, and eye shadow.
Ideal for shimmer with a champagne tint
Why I love it:
I purchased my first Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original (it was the travel size that came with my Urban Decay Naked Pallet). It works wonders as a basic eyeshadow primer. I tend to like my eyeshadow a to have a little more oomph, so I decided to go a step further and purchase the larger size in Sin. I can honestly let you that I use this product every.single.day. Even if I'm running somewhere with little-to-no makeup on I always rub some Sin on my lids. My next purchase will be Greed, but I'm sure Eden will be coming home with me soon after!
These primer potions come in a few forms. The first is the travel size - 0.13 oz. I have only ever seen these included in Urban Decay Pallets or in Sephora's Limited edition Book Of Sins (which came in all colors in travel sizes). I adore this because I put it in my makeup bag in my purse and I always have it with me. It doesn't take up much space and I hate to say it, but can you say ADORABLE? Second are the hard Arabian looking containers - 0.34 US fl. oz. This is the packaging of my dearest Sin. I will say that this packaging is quite impractical though. If you have this version of the primer potions don't throw it away when you think your done with it. I repeat, DO NOT THROW AWAY! If you carefully cut open the top of the packaging you will be pleasantly surprised at how much product is left in the container. I took out what I had left and put it in an empty sample container. These containers also come in an XL version - 0.55 oz. Lastly and newest on the market are the tubes of primer potion (shown above) - 0.37 oz. These make it easier to use all of the product and I think they are very practical.
